Mar 16, 2020 Like WPS Office Free, SoftMaker FreeOffice provides analogs for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations respectively). As with all the free office suites in. May 28, 2013 I thinking about purchasing a MacBook Pro for school, and I was wondering if I had to buy word, powerpoint, excel, ect. Or if it came with it. If word doesn't come with it, is there an apple one that does come with it, like word, but apples software? If it doesn't come with it I really dont understand why I would buy a mac. Introduced in 1988, the first version of the Microsoft 365 & Office productivity software included Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications. Today’s versions of the Microsoft 365 & Office suites are designed for a variety of users and computing environments, and encompass other useful, business-focused programs like Access, Outlook.
Macs don't come with that type of apps, so you have to purchase them. There are three options, but there are more if you want to have a look at these applications:
- Office for Mac > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
- Apple iWork, in the Mac App Store.
- LibreOffice > http://www.libreoffice.org
All of them are paid apps except LibreOffice, so you can start testing this application. Macs come with TextEdit, a basic text application that won't meet the requirements you want

Apple has 'Pages' and 'Numbers' which are able to work with, respectively, Word and Excel files. You can purchase and download both from the App Store in your Dock. Free word processing software. Both have the ability to export files as Word and Excel if you need to send files to other people who don't have Macs. Each is $20.
Or, you can purchase Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, which contains both Word and Excel. You can purchase and download it from the Microsoft website. It's $120 per computer, or $150 for three computers.
